Apologies to all you lovely people who check this website regularly but because Anne has been suffering with further back problems there have been no recent updates.  Today we are having to let you know that the workshop with Paul Hutchinson in September is having to be cancelled.  All being well Anne will be having surgery in September and then recuperating for a couple of months after that.  Hopefully we will be able to have a proper programme of events next year.

A wonderful workshop with Paul Hutchinson yesterday, Playford with interesting arrangements that work musically in 21st century, whislt honoring the tradition, great stuff.  Paul was equally impressed with the high standard of playng from our participants.

A lovely concert yesterday evening with Pagoda Duo, a new partnership between Paul Hutchinson and Karen Wimhurst.  The clarinet is not an obvious choice of instrument to pair with the accordion but Karen's contribution was captivating. The evening just got better as it went along, each time they played a new tune my thought was I need to learn that, until the next tune was played when I decided that actually that was the tune I wanted to learn and so it continued.  If you have an opportunity to see the Duo anywhere please go along as you will have a wonderful evening.

After our summer break and it really was summer this year, what better way to start the autumn than yesterday's workshop with Pete Cooper, fantastic music from Poland with the bonus of a beautiful waltz penned by Mr Cooper himself, topped up with all the lovely people who  came to learn and play.  What more could anyone ask for?
                                                     ~~~
What a great musical combination Kevin Dempsey and Harriet Bartlett make!  Thank you both for a lovely evening.
                                                     ~~~

What a lovely day we had yesterday, the sun shone and it was warm, a real spring day.  Which was only bettered by spending a day playing music with Mairi Campbell and our fantastic participants.  Mairi has such a calming influence that even with some of the more challenging tasks she set us, there was no stress in the room, just a lot of laughter.

                                                        ~~~
It is great to try something completely different, which is what we did on Saturday with The Pipe and Tabor Day.  We met lots of lovely people and had great fun learning to co-ordinate blowing our pipes whilst holding a rhythm on our 'tabors'.  Expertly led by Stephen Rowley.
The event was rounded off with a concert in the evening featuring the wonderful Waytes and Measures. A great day!
                                                            ~~~

Fabulous evening with Leveret!  Complete sell out, which is a pity for those people who turned up without pre-booking.
                                                               ~~~
Check out our refurbished website.  We think it looks great, hope you like it as much as we do!
We've had a fantastic time with Sturla Eide here.  Fantastic workshop on Sunday, learning some Norwegian tunes and how to make that idiomatic Norwegian sound.  Followed by a fabulous evening yesterday, with Sturla Eide in concert, amazing fiddle playing!  Sturla makes it all look so easy, which I can assure everyone, having spent an hour yesterday working with Sturla on one of his pieces, this is anything but easy.  It's going to take me a lot of practice to get that bowing technique working.  Our best wishes go to Karen Tweed, who wasn't well enough to play with Sturla.
~~~

A wonderful day’s playing yesterday.  Pete Cooper is an amazing leader/teacher and will be back with us next September.

~~~
What an evening that was!  Great music from the No.1 Ladies Accordion Orchestra.
~~~

Great evening yesterday with the Steve Tilston Trio!

~~~
Attended a brilliant workshop yesterday afternoon in Gloucester Folk Museum.  Pipe and Tabor, lead by Stephen Rowley.  We are now planning a Pipe and Tabor day in Dursley, perhaps for November - watch this space!
~~~

THE NO.1 LADIES ACCORDION ORCHESTRA! - playing Dursley Town Hall on Sunday 15th September, 7:30pm.  Book your tickets now.

~~~
Another fantastic evening yesterday with Karen Tweed and Paul Hutchinson.
~~~

Yesterday's workshop with Dave Townsend was a brilliant day.  The standard of musicianship was very high, so thank you to everyone who came and contributed to the day.

~~~
A slight change to diary, Pete Cooper will be leading his workshop on Sunday 22nd September now, instead of 29th.  So one less week to wait for what will be another fascinating and informative day with Pete.
~~~

A brilliant evening with Rob Harbron, Miranda Rutter and John Dipper, lovely people playing beautiful music.  Set us up just right to catch plane to Granada.

~~~
I've just heard that Steve Tilston will be appearing with KEITH WARMINGTON + STUART GORDON, two fine musicians from the Bristol area, a fabulous evening to look forward to.
~~~

A wonderful workshop with Rob Harbron yesterday, an inspiration as always!

~~~
Great news - Sturla Eide will be in UK in November and is going to lead a workshop for us on Sunday 3rd and play a concert with Karen Tweed on Tuesday 5th November - exciting times.
~~~

Heard today that John Dipper will be joining Rob Harbron and Miranda Rutter for their concert on Tuesday 7th May.  One of England's finest fiddle players!

~~~
Steve Tilston booked for Tuesday 3rd September at 7:30pm. guarenteed to be a brilliant evening, listening to Steve's wonderful songs and playing.
~~~

I've just had confirmation of another date in the Town Hall concert series.  Miranda Rutter and Rob Harbron will be playing on Tuesday 7th May at 7:30pm.

~~~
I could be accused of hyperbole but last night's concert with Karen Tweed and Sturla Eide was nothing short of superb.  Sturla's fiddle playing is exceptional!
~~~

I believe that Sturla will be back in the UK in November, and I hope to have news in the next
couple of weeks of another concert with them both; I'm also hoping that Sturla will lead an
ensemble workshop for me as well.

~~~
Sadly, the workshop with Johnny Coppin on Sunday 24th February has had to be cancelled. So
the next workshop to look forward to is with Rob Harbron on Sunday 21st April.
~~~

Karen Tweed is playing a solo concert in the Town Hall on Tuesday 5th March, with the
wonderful Norwegian Fiddler player Sturla Eide, not to be missed for anyone who wants to hear
Hardanger Fiddle!

~~~
It was the Kevin Dempsey Workshop yesterday, we learnt two great new tunes and some good
ideas on how to arrange them. Thanks Kevin. I'm delighted to note that the heating was
working properly, so we were warm all day, so hopefully that issue has finally been sorted.
Karen Tweed is planning another gig to be held in the Town Hall for Tuesday 5th March. More
details to follow.
~~~

Karen Tweed played a gig in the Town Hall yesterday evening with Kevin Dempsey as her special guest. It was a lovely evening apart from being very cold in the hall. I will be working with the Dursley Town Trust to address the problems with the inconsistent heating in the Town Hall.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

~~~
Karen Tweed has proved herself to be an excellent leader, she worked us hard yesterday but the end results were well worth the effort. Just need to fix a date for a return visit, especially for those who couldn't make it yesterday. Only have two dates to fix to complete next years
programme, June and November, so watch this space!
~~~

It is always a tad disconcerting when you turn up at a pub to play in a session, only to find that
said pub has closed. However, Phil has sweet talked us into The Bell at Frampton, so we had a
brilliant time this evening. Excellent venue, very welcoming and even better they want us back.

~~~
A wonderful start to the beginning of the season yesterday, with Pete Cooper, who is a
wonderful teacher of music.
~~~

Pete Cooper Workshop sold out!

~~~
What a fantastic day we had yesterday. John Kirkpatrick was his usual good humoured and
energetic self and everyone had a great time. Don't worry if you couldn't get to this one - he will
be back!
~~~

Just been talking to Kevin Dempsey - he is joining us to lead a workshop on 27th January 2013.
Excellent!

~~~
I'm delighted to be able to confirm that Karen Tweed is coming to us in November. See events
page for more information.
~~~

Unfortunately Pete Cooper is unwell, so have had to cancel today's workshop. We wish him a
speedy recovery. The good news is that Pete is re-booked for 30th September

~~~
Happy New Year
~~~

I'm already getting bookings for the workshops next year, which is fantastic. So, to be sure of a
place please contact me now

~~~
Another brilliant day yesterday with Rob Harbron leading, luckily for us his voice held out despite having Laryngitis.
~~~

A busy fortnight, have confirmed bookings for both Pete Cooper on Sunday 26th February
(please note later time) and Johnny Coppin is returning to us on Sunday 10th May

~~~
Rob Habron confirmed to lead a workshop to be held on Sunday 30th October. Rob is one of the tutors from the Summer School and is a wonderful leader.
~~~

We've had good musical summer. Some of us from the session have been playing for Dursley
Farmer's Market every month since March and we've been very lucky with the weather in spite
of it having been a pretty dismal summer this year. A couple of us had a marvellous week at the
English Acoustic Collective Summer School held at Ruskin Mill in July. I thoroughly recommend
it, I've learnt a massive amount about music and how to play it from the fantastic tutors.

~~~
We had a great day yesterday with Dave Townsend and his wife Mandy. We always come home
after the workshops brimming
~~~

We played for the second time at the Dursley Farmer's Market this morning. Fantastic, it was
really warm and sunny! I thoroughly recommend the bread stall.

~~~
Have just heard today that the organisers of the Farmer's Market would like us to play there
every month. The market is held on 2nd saturday of the month.
~~~

Some of us who play at the White Lion played for Dursley Farmer's Market this morning, for the
market's grand re-opening. Apart from freezing in our boots, we had a really good time, with a
great response both from the traders and the public who were there to buy the wonderful
produce for sale at the market.

~~~
February Another brilliant day with Kevin Dempsey. Thanks Kevin!
~~~

John Kirkpatrick has confirmed date for a return visit. This will be Sunday 22nd April 2012,
details of content tbc. I'm sure we can be patient!

~~~
Happy New Year!
